Checking in and out
Omni records four kinds of attendance events:
- check in
- check out
- break start
- break end
Every surface below calls the same server function, so the rules are identical everywhere.
Web
The Time tracker card on the dashboard has one main button (Check in / Check out) and a break button. If your policy uses location, the browser asks for location permission the first time.
iPhone
| Surface | How to add it |
|---|---|
| Home Screen widget | Long-press the Home Screen → Edit → Add Widget → Omni Clock. Small and medium sizes have a check-in/out button and a live timer. |
| Lock Screen widget | Long-press the Lock Screen → Customize → add Omni Clock. |
| Live Activity / Dynamic Island | Starts automatically when you check in and shows your running time. Tap Check out or Break without unlocking. |
| Control Center | Open Control Center → + → add Omni check-in. |
| Siri / Action button | Say "Check in with Omni" or "Check out with Omni", or assign the shortcut to the Action button. |
Android
Long-press the home screen → Widgets → Omni Clock. On Android 16 and later you can also place it on the lock screen. Tap the button to check in or out. The app does not open.
What the result means
| Result | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Recorded | Accepted. |
| Recorded, flagged for review | Accepted, but something needs a manager's eye. For example you were outside your site, location was unavailable, or an offline tap synced late. |
| Rejected | Not recorded. This only happens under the On-site only policy, when you check in or resume from outside a site. Checking out is never blocked. |
Tapping twice, or a widget retrying, never creates duplicate events.
